Running...

So I've decided to start running again. Not that I've ever been a "runner" but every now and then I like to pretend that I am. Well on my list of things to do before I die, I have 'run a marathon'. And I just figured I'd better get on that while I'm still young. I'm going to start off slow and build my way up to a full marathon, which is like 26.some miles...or something like that. So in 5 weeks I'm going to be running a 5K that a local high school will be hosting. I have 5 weeks to get myself prepared for this 5K, by the way, if you're wondering how far a 5K is, it's only 3 miles. I just like saying 5K because it sounds more impressive. Anyways, as of right now I can't even run a mile without stopping to walk. I'm incredibly out of shape, which is another reason I'm doing this. So after class tonight, I went to the reservoir and attempted to run. Umm...yeah, then after that I went to Arby's and got a milkshake! Good job me. After going through the drive through I went to Smiley Park and swang on the swings! It was so stinkin' fun. There I was all by myself swinging in the dark. Sounds really sad, but it wasn't, there was a bat there to keep me company and to eat the mosquitos that could have possibly given me malaria. As I was sitting there a cop car pulls in. And I figured I was gonna get busted for being there after dark or something gay like that. But the cop got out of his car along with his canine companion and they played a quick game of fetch. Watching them made me want a dog even worse, which I don't know if that's even possible. This dog was uber fast though. I was amazed. And then I thought of how sucky it would be to get chased down by a police dog. Then when they left I went back to my car and fell asleep until I had to come into work. When I got to work, my coworker had bought me a Jamocha shake from Arby's! How was I not suppose to drink it! Its Jamocha!! No biggy. I'll just have to run a little harder than I had planned for the next few weeks.

Well I should probably go, after all I am at work.

I guess it won't kill me to update

Why is it that when I have a gajillion tests to study for, I want to watch a couple movies instead? I really don't rent movies that often...at least I don't think I do. Anyways I decided to get a couple movies from the library yesturday while in town. I love the library b/c you can rent movies for free for four nights! I watched Million Dollar Baby last night. I really liked it. It was inspiring and depressing all at the same time. Well I don't know if depressing is the right word, but it made me cry...a lot. So it had me thinking about a couple things.

1. I want to learn to box. And then I realized I think I'm terrified of getting punched in the face. I guess its more of a nose thing more than anything else. Sometimes the slightest bump will make my nose bleed, so i can't imagine how bad it would bleed if I really got hit hard. But I still think it would be beneficial to know how to box/fight. I've always wanted to be tough or a least able to defend myself if necessary. So I've added "Learn to Box/Fight" to my list of things to do before I die.

2. It also made me wonder, If someone I loved was dependent on machines to keep them alive but they just wanted to die...what would I do? I mean if there is noway that their condition will get better...i just can't imagine how hard that would be to deal with something like that. There are so many ethical issues that surround this and I'm not even going to begin to get into those but I don't know it just made me think.

Anyways enough about that. If you haven't seen it I would reccommend it.

I just finished watching the other movie a little bit ago, Matchstick Men. I thought this was a good movie as well. It was different but I liked it, had a little unexpected twist at the end. At least I didn't expect it anyways, I'm not one of those people who can predict every little thing that's going to happen in movies. Which by the way drives me crazy when people do that. So if you ever watch a movie with me don't predict things outloud while watching it, seriously it just kills the movie no matter how good or bad it turns out to be.

Sorry I just went off on a little tangent there. I'm done now.

Today was the last day of my medsurg. rotation in clinicals. Originally I was going to celebrate by bringing home a puppy, but then mom and dad told me how they really felt about that idea. So I went to the petstore and played with a little chiuwauwa instead of bringing home my own dog. Not cool.

But my hamsters are cool! And for right now thats good enough.

Studying. Like That's Gonna Help!

So I'm taking a break from studying for my 2 exams tomorrow. Yea, not so fun. Anyways I've been wanting to update my blog for a couple days now, I've just been to lazy to do it. Anyways. Monday was a pretty special day for me. I became the proud owner of two adorable dwarf hamsters! And here is the best part about it, they were absolutely free! Booyah! I was meant to have these little fur balls. Here's why:

1. There was an ad in the paper for dwarf hamsters. Ok. How often do you see an ad in the paper for hamsters, let alone dwarf hamsters!? That was sign number one.

2. When I called to inquire about the friendly little critters, the lady said that she'd take $5 for 2. Now at PetLand they cost $15 each! Sing number two.

3. When I got to the house, the lady just wanted me to take them. She must have had 2 too many. Yes.

So that's it. She put the two little gals in a sterilite container and I went to Walmart to pick up the bedding and the food. Well before I went into the store I cracked open the container to make sure the dwarfies could breathe...little did I know that I had an escape artist on my hands. When I got back into the car I looked over and noticed that only one was still in the container. *gasp* So I got out and started looking around. About 2 minutes later I found her down by the cup holder inbetween the front seats. Phew! So needless to say I got them both home safe and sound and they are both settled in quite nicely!

So without further adieu, I would like to present...

Epinephrine aka "Epi"

and

Nuclear Winter aka "Nuke"

Weird names. Maybe so, but they just happen to be the perfect fit! Nuke got her name because she's charcoal gray with just the slightest patch of white on her chin. Winter gone bad. As for Epi, well Epinephrine is a drug and I'm a nursing student. That's pretty much the story. Ok I've gotta get back to studying!
